TSS Win IoT Excellence Award Utilising EWS Telemetry Tilmeters
Through the implementation of EWS Telemetry tilt sensors placed on track within the site boundaries and their projected zone of influence, TSS Total Surveying Solutions (TSS) reduced the frequency of manual survey track monitoring required to certify track serviceability and ensure undisturbed operation.
Each year, the Kinaway Chamber of Commerce presents The Victorian Aboriginal Business Awards. The awards celebrate Kinaway certified businesses that are achieving outstanding results in their industries, as well as our Corporate Partners who are leading Indigenous procurement and collaborations with Kinaway businesses.
This year, Total Surveying Solutions (TSS) were recognised by being awarded the IoT Excellence Award for our outstanding efforts regarding the implementation of tilt sensors on the Melbourne Airport Rail project. This award recognises Indigenous businesses that have exhibited exceptional proficiency in harnessing advanced technologies within the realms of connectivity platforms, device management platforms, application enablement platforms, and/or analytic platforms to drive innovation and efficiency.
Through the implementation of EWS Telemetry tilt sensors placed on track within the site boundaries and their projected zone of influence, TSS Total Surveying Solutions (TSS) reduced the frequency of manual survey track monitoring required to certify track serviceability and ensure undisturbed operation. The use of EWS tilt sensors as a monitoring solution proved to be a reliable method for detecting movement of the rail in both the vertical and horizontal planes. Providing results at hourly epochs produced a reliable model of movement, allowing for almost on-demand reporting.
The reduced requirement for manual track survey monitoring represents a significant safety improvement by reducing the presence of surveyors, track protection personnel, and other workers in the rail corridor. Minimising time spent in the rail corridor mitigated all risks associated with operating in a live rail environment. Remote monitoring also proved key for early warning, and improved safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
“TSS has a history using EWS products across a range of projects nationwide. The award highlights the quality of their products, their excellent customer service, and the advanced technology. Further to this, EWS is 100% Australian owned and produce all products locally making EWS TSS’s preferred supplier.
EWS are a 100% Australian-owned technology company that designs and manufactures world-class monitoring technology. They compete successfully both locally and abroad, proving that monitoring technology does not have to be imported from Europe, China, or the US. They proudly produce all products in Australia.
EWS tiltmeters each transmit individually and do not rely on a centralised radio “gateway”. This reduces the risk of single point and total network failure if the gateway goes down. If one EWS device goes down, the rest of the network is not affected, maximising data uptime and providing reliable continuous decision-making data during critical stages of projects.
The EWS devices have unique capabilities in the fact that they can transmit over both 4G and satellite networks, allowing them to be deployed anywhere on earth while ensuring reliable data transmission. This includes railways in metropolitan areas as well as the most remote rail locations.”
